For this assignment I had the option of either using my Android phone or Apple iPad mini. I’m pretty familiar with Apple mobile devices and the Apple App Store, however, I’m still a newbie when it comes to Android devices and Google Play Apps. That being said, I figured I would use this mobile app demo assignment to become a little more familiar with apps available through Google. I wasn’t disappointed!
I found a photography app called DMD Panorama by Dermandar on Google Play by searching for the keyword “panorama.” Aside from a few small technical bugs that caused the app to force close a time or two, it turned out to be very user-friendly. After capturing the photographs, the app gave me the option to save as a .jpg on my phone or upload directly onto their website. For my purposes, I opted to host the photos on my website.
As a note, this app is free so it does not always allow for the highest quality (you will notice that some of my photos have blending issues). There are in-app upgrades available for purchase.
I used my Samsung Galaxy S5 Active smartphone to capture the following panoramic tour of the University of Alaska Southeast, Sitka Campus:
Parking Lot / Exterior of UAS Building
Hangar / Open Projects Area
Blended Learning Classroom
Student Success Center
Johnston Lecture Hall
